I have been coming to Ichiban since 2018. Every year I come to Kyoto, I absolutely have to eat at Ichiban. The food is some of the most delicious I have had in Japan and it's honestly spoiled me for other yakitori places. I get almost the same thing every time I come and I'm always reminded why I love this place. My go-to dishes are the grilled garlic clove, the grilled buttered potato, grilled onions, any of the sasami skewers, sasami negi-shio, their stamina-don, and on occasion their grilled onigiri. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by Ichiban. Just as a heads up, they are VERY popular so you may be waiting a little bit longer than usual but honestly the wait is well worth it.

Like the food a lot… the Yakitori full of charcoal taste which I like the most taste just right if u order the salt based only. I also tried the agedashi tofu… delicious… the atmosphere are good the staff are nice… better go there early otherwise no seat… thanks

A great local yakitori place which also has delicious vegetarian options! Recommend the onion and grilled onigiri. Cash only!

Loved the fantastic food and nice drinks! Great dining experience in such a warm and cute 居酒屋. The owners are very friendly and we took a picture together! Highly recommended, really authentic Japanese Yakitori, hope to visit here again in the future.

Highly recommend - authentic ambience, delicious food and great service. Ordered an A and B set and added octopus karaage, bacon -wrapped quail egg and the butter scallops (got 2!). Does get smokey inside from the grill but part of the experience. Note they charge 300 yen cover charge per person and cash only, but it’s worth it!
